The basics UGE looks for
If most of these sound like you, the Digital Nomad Visa could be your route to Spain.
Gross means before taxes. Based on Spain's 2026 minimum wage (SMI), which changes every year. We recommend earning comfortably above the minimum, especially if you are paid in USD or another currency.

Questions we hear every week
How much do I need to earn?
For 2026, at least €2,849 gross per month if you apply alone. Each family member you bring raises the amount, so a couple needs €3,917. See the full table in the income section above.
Can I bring my family?
Yes. You can include your spouse or partner, your children, and in some cases dependent parents. Each person needs their own documents, and your income must cover the whole household.
Should I apply from the Philippines or from Spain?
Both routes work. Applying in Spain gives you a 3-year residence authorization. Applying at the consulate gives you a visa first, then you settle in Spain. The right choice depends on your timeline and family, and we help you decide.
I am a freelancer. Can I still apply?
Yes, as long as most of your clients are outside Spain. Clients in Spain can be no more than 20% of your work, and you need at least 3 months of history with your current clients.
I do not have a college degree. Is that a problem?
Not necessarily. You can qualify with at least 3 years of experience in your field, backed by official proof like employment and social security records.
I live outside the Philippines. Can you still help me?
Yes. We help Filipino passport holders wherever they live, including the Middle East, Asia, the US, and Europe. You will need police clearances from every country you lived in for the last 2 years.
What happens if my application is denied?
We review the official reasons and tell you honestly if reapplying makes sense. If you choose not to reapply, 50% of your service fee is refunded, as stated in your service agreement.
Are you a lawyer?
No. Alex is a Digital Nomad Visa consultant and application specialist. If your case needs a legal appeal, we refer you to an accredited Spanish immigration lawyer.
Ate in Spain is a visa consultancy, not a law firm. This page is general information, not legal advice.
Full service is not for everyone. That is okay.
